about this tour

about this tour

This Peruvian adventure takes couples on a romantic journey through time and place. It begins in Lima, a city shaped by its colonial past and modern character. Walk hand in hand through plazas lined with ornate balconies, sample traditional dishes in neighborhood eateries, and enjoy the contrast of old cathedrals set against contemporary architecture. The pace of the capital gives way to the quiet beauty of the Sacred Valley, where the Andes frame peaceful landscapes and ancient terraces mark the hillsides. In this calm setting, visit archaeological sites that reflect the achievements of past civilizations, and take time to enjoy small villages where life moves slowly and local traditions remain strong. Share quiet moments along riversides or while enjoying mountain views. The journey continues to Cusco, once the center of the Inca Empire. Here, cobbled streets lead to historic landmarks like the Sacsayhuaman fortress. Artisanal markets and lively plazas provide an inviting atmosphere for leisurely afternoons. The final chapter unfolds on the sun-soaked beaches of Mancora. Golden sand, warm breezes, and the sound of waves create an ideal setting for rest and connection. Couples can enjoy fresh seafood by the shore, take long evening walks under the stars, and relax together as the sun sets over the Pacific. This journey offers a thoughtful blend of discovery, comfort, and shared moments.

    Lima's History and Cuisine

Based on the theory that food is the way to someone's heart, today is a chance to dive further into Lima's traditional cuisine. Start the day with a visit to Surquillo Market for its selection of fish, fruit and vegetables. Visit "La Gran Fruta" (The great fruit), who specialize in healthy homemade juices, taste-test a few and guess which fruits they include, making use of what you have learned in the market. Then to Barranco, the bohemian district of Lima. One of the icons of this neighborhood is El Puente de los Suspiros (The bridge of sighs), it was the inspiration to Chabuca Granda, the singer who composed 'La Flor de la Canela' (the cinnamon flower). Your guide will explain about local traditions and typical dishes, such as Ceviche and Picarones. There will be a stop for a Peruvian coffee extraction demonstration and informative talk, lasting about 30 minutes, including a hot or cold coffee drink. You will also visit the very traditional cevicheria 'Canta Rana', to taste the national dish, Ceviche. Many different dishes of fish and seafood are offered here. After this you continue on to Isolina for a great casual dining experience with traditional Peruvian criollo dishes in a laid-back restaurant. Here, you will taste Chilcano, a drink made with Pisco the Peruvian alcoholic beverage. A culinary tour can't end without a sweet finale, so try some of our local desserts at one of the typical restaurants in Barranco.

Lima - Sacred Valley - Salineras

In the morning, you will be collected fr-m the hotel for transport to Lima airport for your flight to Cusco, where you will be met and taken to Sacred Valley for an idyllic visit to the Incan sites of Moray and Maras. In Moray, you can see pre-Inca and Inca ruins, mostly consisting of several enormous circular depressions, potentially used as agricultural terraces, with a complex system of irrigation. The site with the Quechua name "muyus" is the deepest pit, with a depth of 30m (100ft). These ruins are remnants of the Inca age; they were apparently an agricultural experimentation center in which the Incas re-created microclimates on every terrace. From Moray, you will head towards Maras to see the 'Salineras', a feat of hydraulic engineering and a must for photographers. The saltponds are set on overhanging cliffs and command spectacular views of the Andean mountains and the Urubamba River below. Hidden behind several layers of lush green mountains, these snow-white salt ponds will stun you with their beauty, as they reflect the sun like white gold. Leaving Maras you stop for lunch before being taken to your hotel. Located at a lower altitude than Cusco, staying in the Sacred Valley will help you acclimatize to the high altitudes. The evening is free for you to spend at your leisure and soak up the peace and serenity of the Sacred Valley.

The Sacred Valley of the Incas

Set out on a full-day excursion through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, following the Vilcanota River, where traditional communities, ancient terraces, and significant archaeological sites await. Your first stop is the Pisac Indian Market, one of the most popular in the Cusco region, where travelers can browse a wide selection of textiles, ceramics, jewelry, ponchos, rugs, Andean instruments, and alpaca and llama woven clothing. Next, visit the Pisac ruins, dramatically positioned at the entrance of a deep gorge. Overlooking the Urubamba Valley and the town below, this site played a key role in the Inca Empire, serving as a strategic link between the highlands and the eastern jungles. The engineering and agricultural terraces showcase the civilization’s remarkable advancements. In the afternoon, explore Ollantaytambo, a well-preserved Incan town with original streets, homes, and an imposing fortress that rises above the village. Before returning to your hotel, stop in a local neighborhood to try chicha, a traditional fermented maize drink that remains a favorite among locals.

    Cusco: Market & Ruins

Begin your day in Cusco at the local market, where you can experience daily life and explore an array of fresh vegetables, breads, and fruits, including the traditional Oropeza bread. The market also offers herbs used for centuries in traditional medicine and cocoa beans, the foundation of chocolate production. Next, visit Cusco’s impressive Colonial Cathedral, home to over 400 paintings from the Cusqueña School and beautifully crafted altars. From there, head to Koricancha, the religious center of the Inca Empire, where the Temple of the Sun once stood in honor of Inti, the Sun god. The name Koricancha comes from the Quechua words "qori," meaning goldwork, and "kancha," meaning enclosed space. Continue to the artisan quarter of San Blas, known for its local workshops where artisans create religious paintings and intricate crafts. Then, explore Cusco’s nearby archaeological sites, starting with Sacsayhuaman, a remarkable stone fortress once known as the Royal House of the Sun. Visit Qenqo Amphitheater, an important Incan temple, and Tambomachay, an ancient sanctuary dedicated to water and reserved for Inca royalty. Its name comes from the Quechua words "tampu" (collective housing) and "machay" (resting place). Finally, pass by Puka Pukara, or "Reddish Fortress," named for the distinctive color of the soil in the area.

    Mancora Leisure Day

Today is free for you to relax in Mancora. With an enviable climate and an average of 300 days of sunshine a year, Mancora revolves around three things: beach, food and drink. After breakfast and a brief walk around the town to get your bearings, head down to one of the beachside restaurants in Mancora to enjoy an early lunch. After lunch, take a stroll to Las Pocitas beach considered the most beautiful beach in all of Peru. A 15 minute walk south of Mancora, the beaches here are less crowded and the further south you go the more secluded and deserted they get! Make sure to take plenty of drinking water with you and to check the tides so that you aren't cut off from returning to your hotel by the high tide. Following a day of relaxing under the sun, stop at one of the beachfront bars to watch the sunset with a typical Peruvian drink, 'pisco sour'...be careful though, although they are smooth and sweet they pack quite a punch!

    Final Mancora Leisure Day

Your day is free to spend as you wish. We recommend diving straight into the action with the wide range of optional activities that are offer in Mancora and can be organized once you're in the destination. Whether a seasoned professional or novice, rent a surfboard or take some lessons with a professional teacher. The waves here are long, rolling and smooth making it perfect for regular surfers out to perfect their technique and beginners too. If you're traveling to Mancora between mid-July and the end of October you must go on a whale watching tour as the humpback whales arrive to the warm coast of Mancora from the cold waters of Antarctica. During your whale watching tour in Mancora you'll also be able to see dolphins, sea lions and blue-footed boobies. You can also explore the marine life off the coast of Mancora, with the first dive school in Peru certified by PADI (the largest recreational dive organization in the world) recently opening in the small beach town. If you aren't ready for scuba diving and would prefer snorkeling, the scuba diving school also offers tours to some of the best snorkeling sites on the coast where you can swim alongside dolphins and turtles. In the evening, dine on more delicious seafood before enjoying some ice cold Pilsen or Cusquena (local beers) and Pisco Sours in the many bars and pubs in the center of town or along the beachfront.
